Signs to look out for

  • Irregular, delayed or missed periods
  • Weight gain, especially around the waist, or difficulty losing weight
  • Acne, oily skin, or thinning hair on the scalp
  • Excess facial or body hair
  • Difficulty getting pregnant
  • Cysts reported on an ultrasound scan

How Ayurveda understands PCOD

Ayurveda sees PCOD largely as a Kapha and Vata imbalance with weak digestive fire (Agni): sluggish metabolism and accumulated ama block the channels that carry the menstrual cycle. That is why diet, activity, weight and digestion are central to the plan, not an afterthought.

How we treat it at AyurRemedy

Your physician takes a detailed history of your cycles, weight, skin and lifestyle, and reviews your scans and hormone tests. Your plan may include:

  • Internal medicines from our in-house pharmacy to support digestion, metabolism and a regular cycle
  • Udwarthanam (dry herbal powder massage) and other therapies that support weight management
  • Panchakarma such as Virechana or Vasti where suitable
  • Diet and daily routine suited to your body type, with practical changes you can keep up
  • Fertility support, if you are planning a pregnancy, planned with you and your gynaecologist

Questions patients ask

Can Ayurveda help with PCOD?

Many women with PCOD use Ayurvedic medicines along with diet, activity and weight changes to support a more regular cycle and manage symptoms. Results vary from person to person; your physician will explain what to expect after your consultation.

Do I need to stop my hormone tablets or metformin?

No. Do not stop or change any prescribed medicine on your own. Bring your prescriptions and reports, and your physician will plan Ayurvedic care alongside them, in discussion with your gynaecologist where needed.

Is diet really that important for PCOD?

Yes. Weight, blood sugar and digestion strongly affect PCOD. Your physician will suggest practical diet and routine changes suited to you, which are a core part of the treatment.

Can I come if I am trying to get pregnant?

Yes. Tell your physician at the first visit so the plan, including medicines and therapies, is suitable for someone planning a pregnancy.
