Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation describes specialized healthcare dedicated to improving, maintaining or restoring physical strength, cognition and mobility with maximized results. Typically, rehabilitation helps people gain greater independence after illness, injury or surgery. Rehabilitation can also be explained as the process of helping an individual achieve the highest level of function, independence, and quality of life possible. Rehabilitation does not reverse or undo the damage caused by disease or trauma, but rather helps restore the individual to optimal health, functioning, and well-being. At Ayurremedy , an optimized treatment plan is formed by our senior physicians for rehabilitation of a) Stroke rehabilitation b) Cancer rehabilitation

Stroke Rehabilitation

Paralysis is one of the most common disabilities following a stroke. The paralysis is usually on the side of the body opposite the side of the brain damaged by stroke, and may affect the face, an arm, a leg, or the entire side of the body. This one-sided paralysis is called hemiplegia if it involves complete inability to move or hemiparesis if it is less than total weakness. .In Ayurveda, stroke paralysis is considered as Pakshavadha (paralysis of one side of the body). At AyurRemedy, an optimized treatment plan is formed by our senior physicians considering the stage of the paralysis, and for how long the patient has had this condition as well as their strength. If the paralysis is of a recent onset, then medication is prescribed along with some mild treatments like Abhyanga (Application of medicated oil on the body), or Kaya Seka (pouring of warm medicated oil on the body). A patient who has had paralysis due to a stroke for longer than one year requires more extensive treatment. This is because half of the body has been inactive for so long that the muscles start to waste away (no longer have strength to function).

Cancer Rehabilitation

Cancer Rehabilitation Program is built on a foundation of classical Ayurveda management that addresses primary as well as secondary (metastatic) cancers. It focuses on palliative care to improve the patient’s ‘Quality of Life’. Classical Ayurveda therapies are appropriately integrated with the primary management of cancer to alleviate acute side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy to enhance functional health and overall sense of wellbeing. Further, the motivation levels of the patient and his/her family are enhanced thereby minimizing patient default. This is an individualized program that includes customized diet-lifestyle-medicine-treatments prescription. Most importantly, in case you have a history of cancer in your family, you can assess your current risk level and proactively practice the diet-lifestyle, with support of classical Ayurveda herbal medicines, to reduce your risk of developing cancer through Cancer Risk Prevention Program.
